Mango-Turmeric Smoothie

You’ll feel like you’re on a tropical vacation when you sip this creamy mango smoothie. And with the addition of turmeric, it’s so much healthier than it tastes!

Probiotic kefir (like a runny yogurt) is excellent for gut health, and turmeric adds an anti-inflammatory boost, not to mention a slightly peppery flavor note. If you can’t find kefir, use plain yogurt; ground ginger stands in perfectly for the turmeric.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain kefir
  • ¾ cup bottled coconut water or tap water
  • 1 ½ cups frozen mango chunks (from a 12-ounce package)
  • 1 cup frozen, very ripe banana slices (from 1 banana)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Instructions:

Combine all ingredients in a blender, starting with kefir and coconut water. Process until smooth, about 1 minute.
